Sound Works

From 2015-2020, I devoted much of my time to exploring and recording sound. Having been steeped in visual media for most of my career, I was intrigued with the possibilities of sound as a direct channel of experience, less encumbered by one’s preconceptions and habits than visual media.

The following two works were created from field recordings which were then manipulated using granular synthesis and a host of effects.

This is a short scripted piece using the human voice and manipulated recordings of electromagnetic noise from various sources (mobile phones, rheostats, anti-theft scanners, traffic lights, decaying pulses from the beginning of the universe, etc.).

These are three longish pieces that were performed solo in a single take using a variety of synthesizers and samplers.
